Armed Reserve, Kochi City is the second largest in kerala Police and is located at Ernakulam and Thripunithura. It has five active Companies, head Quarter Company, Tear Gas Squad, Bomb Squad, Dog Squad and Motor Transport Wing.

Armed Reserve Camp Ernakulam is situated in 2 Acres 4 Cent and 750 Sq. Links of Land, opposite to "Marine Drive" by the Eastern side of "Shankugham" road.

Armed Reserve Camp Tripunithura is situated in 7 Acres 34.5 Cents of Land opposite to Hill Palace Archeological Museum by the Western side of Tripunithura-Ambalamugal road.

Administration: Offices of Deputy Commandant, Asst Commandant-I, MT Wing, Reserve Inspector-I, Moto Transport Inspector, A, B, HQ Coyoffices, Bomb Squad, part of Dog squad and Motor Transport Wing are functioning at Armed Reserve Camp, Ernakulam while offices of Asst Commandant (Adj) & II, Reserve Inspector-II & III are functioning at Armed Reserve Camp, Thripunithura. District Quarter Master Store and magazine are also functioning at Armed Reserve Camp, Thrpunithura.

Over all administration of Armed Reserve, Kochi City is vested with the Deputy Commandant of Police, kochi City. The present Deputy Commandant is Sri. K I Bhaskaran.

Duties and Functions: About 32 numbers of Guards are provided form this Unit. All Nationalised Banks and Treasuries and vital installations, residence of VIPs High Court Judges are guarded by Kochi City AR Police. Personal Security Guards to the Judges of Hon'ble High Court of Kerala, Senior Police Officers and District Administrative Officers are also provided from this Unit. In addition to this, Law and order duties of Kochi City , Prisoner and Money escort duties, VVIP Pilot and Escort duties are also being provided from this Unit.

All stations in Kochi City are equipped with Jeeps and Motor Cycles. Twelve number of Flying Squad vehicles, Three numbers of High Way Police vehicles and Two number of Pilot / Escort vehicles are provided.

Bomb Squad: One fully equipped Bomb Squad is functioning in this Unit at Armed Reserve Camp, Ernakulam. Two Head Constables and three Police Constables are included in this Squad. Among them, one Police Constable is NSG trained and others are trained with SB CID (Security), Thiruvananthapuram.

Dog Squad: Dog Squad Units of Armed Reserve Camp, Ernakulam and Thripunithura are functioning under the charge of one Dog Squad Sub Inspector. Two Sniffer Dogs and one Tracker Dog are now available with this Squad.

Five Police Constables are now working as Dog Handlers. Among them one Police Constables is trained at BSF Training Centre, Thekkenpur.

Welfare Measures: In addition to the Mess, two Wet Canteens and two Dry Canteens are now functioning at both camps. Two Gymnasiums, two Recreation Clubs are also available at both Camp. Newspapers, Weeklies, Carams, Chess, Television Sets with cable facility etc., are provided with Recreation Clubs. Two invertors are also provided in both Camps.
